Michael Joseph Jansen
August 10, 1959 - March 8, 2016

Michael Joseph Jansen passed peacefully from this life on the evening of March 8, 2016, after a steady decline in health. He was surrounded and supported by his loving family and caretakers during the last days of his life.

A son of Raymond and Marian Jansen, Mike was born August 10, 1959, in Storm Lake, Iowa. A 1977 graduate of St. Mary’s High School in Storm Lake, he married Polly Q. Putnam on August 19th later that summer. He attended Western Iowa Technical Community College (WITCC) where he earned a practical nursing diploma. For many years, he worked in nursing homes before finding his mission of delivering and setting up medical equipment.

Mike found his greatest joy in simply spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed traveling, camping, and just experiencing the great outdoors. In addition, he enjoyed playing cards and catching up with his Moose Lodge family.

Those grateful for having shared in his life include Polly, his wife of thirty-eight years, and their four children: Jeremy Jansen (Natasha), of Wayne, Nebraska, along with their children, Tristan, Haley, Alexandra, and Gracie; Jelynda Morse (Darren), of Marcus, Iowa, and their son, Grady; Justin Jansen, and his significant other, Jennifer Johnson, also of Marcus, Iowa, along with their children Katelyn, Ekko, Angel, Savannah, Jacob, and Clayton; and the above mentioned Angel, whom Mike and Polly adopted in 2013.

Others left to cherish his memory include his siblings, Don (Pam) Jansen, of Le Mars, Iowa, Theresa (Eddie) Drewes, of Craig, Missouri, and Al (Ginny), Barb, Rick, and Steve Jansen, all of Omaha, Nebraska; his mother-in-law, Hazel Putnam, of Cherokee, Iowa, and his dear friend, Skip McCloud, also of Cherokee. Mike has a large extended family, many of whom surely could tell us a story or two about him!

Mike is now rejoicing in heaven with his parents and grandparents. The family reunion also includes his beloved son, Jared; his father-in-law, Bud; three sisters-in-law, Anita, Sandy, and Trudie; a nephew, Tom, and a niece, Jodi.
