January 14, 1944 - February 11, 2016Sally R. Bodholdt, age 72, of Storm Lake, Iowa, died on February 11, 2016, in Storm Lake.
Sally Rene Witter, a daughter of Richard “Dick” and Jensina (Jensen) Witter, was born on January 14, 1944, in Council Bluffs, Iowa.
Baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith, Sally attended school in Newell, Iowa, graduating from Newell-Providence in 1962. Then, she attended Iowa State University, Wayne State, and lastly Buena Vista College from which she graduated in 1967 with a bachelor’s degree. Throughout her college years, Sally taught swimming lessons for the Red Cross.
On August 6, 1966, Sally married David Bodholdt at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Newell. Sally and David had attended school together from first grade through high school. They were, subsequently, blessed with two children, Dean Scott and Roxanne Terry.
After teaching for a year in Sac City, Sally worked later on at the Storm Lake Middle School and the Storm Lake High School as a teacher’s aide and special education teacher.
A member of Grace Lutheran Church in Storm Lake, Sally participated in various women’s groups. She found her greatest joy, however, in caring for her family and traveling with her husband, Dave. She will be remembered as “the best wife ever” and as a loving and caring mother, grandmother, sister, and friend to many. Without question, she will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Dave Bodholdt, of Storm Lake, Iowa; her children, Dean Bodholdt, also of Storm Lake, Iowa, and Roxy (Dave) Sorensen, of Brandon, South Dakota; her grandchildren, Hannah and Brandon Cummings, Andrew Kyleigh, and Kaitlin Sorensen, all of Brandon, South Dakota; and her sister, Terry (Dan) Macey, of Lake Zurich, Illinois; as well as extended family members and friends.
Sally was preceded in death by her parents and an infant grandson, Luke Cummings.
Funeral services will be held Monday, February 15, 2016, at 10:30 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church in Storm Lake. Burial will follow in the Newell Cemetery. Visitation will take place Sunday, February 14, 2016, from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. with the family present the entire time at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.
