Brian L. Tews
September 19, 1963 - January 14, 2016Brian L. Tews, age 52, of Sioux Rapids, Iowa, died on Thursday, January 14, 2016, at Sioux Rapids.
Brian Leslie Tews, a son of Donald and Dorothy (Harvey) Tews, was born in Cherokee, Iowa, on September 19, 1963. He lived his youth in Storm Lake and received his education at the Storm Lake Community Schools.
On June 7, 1997, Brian married Natalie Giles. He was blessed with three sons: Jesse, Shawn, and Cody. Before moving to Austin, Texas, Brian lived in Varina, Iowa. During the nearly twenty years he resided there, he held several jobs. Of them all, he preferred the one at the Body Tile and Stone Company where he finished countertops. Next, he made his home in Pacific Junction, Underwood, Oskaloosa, and Marathon, Iowa. In May of 2015, he came to Sioux Rapids to live with his lifelong friends, Steve and Val Ensley. During the last two years, he worked for Packer Sanitation Services, Inc., in Storm Lake.
Brian’s favorite pastimes included riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, collecting Indian items, making dream catchers, fishing, camping, and grilling. In addition, he always liked swinging into a motorcycle shop whenever possible. He loved his leather vest and the jewelry he had collected. He, however, especially cherished the time he spent in the company of his family and friends — family, friends, and his Harley.
Brian is survived by his three sons: Jesse Boger, of Sheldon, Iowa, and Shawn and Cody Boger, both of Greeley, Colorado; his mother, Dorothy Hayes, of Waterloo, Iowa; and his brother, Tracy Wayne Hayes; as well as by other extended family members and many friends. He was preceded in death by his father, and one sister, Donna Tews.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, March 5, 2016, at 2:00 p.m. at the First United Church in Sioux Rapids. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service at the church. The Sliefert Funeral Home in Sioux Rapids is in charge of the arrangements.
