Gregory P. Drzycimski, age 66, of Alta, Iowa, died on Wednesday, January 27, 2016, at the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake.

Gregory Paul Drzycimski, a son of Kenneth Paul and Wanda Alice (Taylor) Drzycimski, was born on September 7, 1949, in Cherokee, Iowa. Baptized and confirmed at the Riverside Presbyterian Church in Linn Grove, he attended school at Sioux Valley, graduating in 1967. Then, he continued his education for a year at Iowa State University.

Inducted into the United States Army on October 16, 1969, Greg, proudly, served his country in Germany as an ADP Machine Operator. For his dedication, he received the National Defense Service Medal. He was honorably discharged on May 11, 1972.

On August 4, 1973, Greg married Merri Bennett in Nebraska City, Nebraska. Subsequently, they were blessed with two sons, Mark and Paul.

A member of the Riverside Evangelical Free Church in Linn Grove, he served as an elder. He, also, volunteered on the Praise Team and the Building Committee. A devoted Christian, he lived his faith daily.

A past president for the Buena Vista Pork Producers, Greg served on the Vista Pork Board, the First Coop Association Board, and with the Choraliers. As an active member of the American Legion Post #367, he held the position of adjutant.

Greg enjoyed bowling and singing with various groups over the years. Most of all, however, he loved his family. He, especially, enjoyed family get-togethers, trips to Branson, Missouri, with Merri and the family, and whenever possible, time spent with his grandchildren. Remembered for his laugh, he was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. His memory will live on in all who knew him.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of forty-two years, Merri Drzycimski, of Alta, Iowa; his children: Mark (Kate) Drzycimski, and their children: Will, Liam, Abram, Josiah, Addie, Elias, James, and Helen, all of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; and Paul (Krissie) Drzycimski, and their children: Charlie and Myron, of Linn Grove, Iowa; his sisters: Linda (Denny) Somers, of Sioux Rapids, Iowa, and Diane (Tim) Straub, of Peterson, Iowa; his mother-in-law, Veda Bennett, of Nebraska City, Nebraska; and his brother-in-law, Allen (Janene) Bennett, also of Nebraska City, Nebraska; as well as extended family members and friends.

Greg was preceded in death by his parents, Kenny and Wanda Drzycimski, and his father-in-law, Leonard Bennett.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, January 30, 2016, at 10:30 a.m. at the First Lutheran Church in Sioux Rapids, Iowa. Burial will follow in the Barnes Township Cemetery in Linn Grove, Iowa, with military rites by the American Legion Post #367.
