Aurlette Eloise Driver
December 31, 1929 - December 12, 2015

With family at her side, Aurlette Driver, age 85, of Linn Grove, Iowa, went into the arms of Jesus, on Saturday, December 12, 2015, at the Methodist Manor Retirement Community in Storm Lake.

Aurlette Eloise was born on December 31, 1929, to Alfred and Effie Johnson in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota. She attended country schools and graduated from Barnesville High School in 1947. Then, she attended North Central Bible College in Minneapolis and graduated with a degree in Children’s Ministries.

On July 1, 1951, Aurlette married Robert Driver in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota. Subsequently, they were blessed with six children: Phil, Mike, Royce, Lowell, Susie, and Chuck. Following their wedding, Aurlette and Bob resided in Pensacola, Florida, while Bob served in the Navy. After Bob completed his military service, they moved to Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, where they lived for eight years. Then, they moved to Truesdale, Iowa, for one year before settling in the Linn Grove area where they had made their home since.

A stay at home mother who briefly worked at the Sioux Valley Community School and the Sioux Care Center, Aurlette taught Sunday school and Bible school for many years at the Assembly of God Church in Truesdale, Iowa. In addition, she played the piano for services and activities at the church. At the same time, she continued her ministry with the AWANA, the Riverside Women, and the neighborhood Bible study group.

Aurlette loved her family more than all else. She had a special talent for making each of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren “her favorite.” Moreover, she and Bob opened their home to many friends and neighbors, making them all feel just as loved as her family.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children: Chuck (Jone), Phillip (Cherri), and Royce Driver, as well as Susie (Mike) Popken; her daughter-in-law, Kim Thomas; her grandchildren: Erica (Jaime) DeLira; Bryan, Eric (Christy), Jesse, Justin, Jillian, Katie, and Krissy Driver; Rachel (Greg) Haack; Leah (Jim) Kain; Jennifer, Jake (Jade), and Joe Popken; and her great grandchildren: Brianna, Natalie, and Zachary DeLira and Landon Driver; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

Aurlette was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert, in March of 2014; her sons, Michael and Lowell; and her brother, Virgil Johnson.

Aurlette’s strong faith in Christ was evident to all who knew her. Her gentle soul and kind demeanor will serve as an example for years to come.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 19, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. at the Riverside Evangelical Free Church in Linn Grove, Iowa. Burial will follow in the Barnes Township Cemetery in Linn Grove. Visitation will be Friday, December 18, 2015, from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. with the family present from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.
