July 31, 1927 - October 28, 2015Eleanor M. Haselhoff, age 88, of Schaller, Iowa, died on Wednesday, October 28, 2015, at the Methodist Manor Retirement Community in Storm Lake.
Eleanor Mabel Landgraf, a daughter of John and Dorothy (Goreham) Landgraf, was born on July 31, 1927, in Tracy, Minnesota. Baptized and confirmed into the Catholic faith, she graduated from high school in Sulphur Springs, Iowa. She, then, continued her education at a nursing school in Fort Dodge where she became a Registered Nurse. She began working as a nurse at the Porath Hospital in Storm Lake. Later, she worked at the Alta Hospital until it closed.
On September 27, 1949, Eleanor married Joseph “Punk” Haselhoff at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Storm Lake. Subsequently, they were blessed with four children: Marcella, John, Ed, and Alice.
A member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Schaller, Eleanor served on the Altar Society.
In her spare time, Eleanor enjoyed crocheting and reading. Most of all, however, she loved spending time with her family and will be remembered as a loving and caring mother, grandmother, and friend to many.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children: Marcella (Dennis) Brabec, of Laurens, Iowa, John (Marcia) Haselhoff, of Schaller, Iowa, Ed Haselhoff, also of Schaller, Iowa, and Alice (Jerry) May, of Humboldt, Iowa; her grandchildren: Kelli (Jason) Book, Mark (Joleen) Haselhoff, and Emily (Stephen) Prather; and her great-grandchildren: Kendal and Jaxson Book; as well as extended family members and friends.
Eleanor was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joseph; her sisters: Marian (Raymond) Jansen, and Jean and Jackie Landgraf; her grandson, Brian Brabec; her brothers-in-law: Leo (Leone), Arnold (Millie), and George (Martha Marie) Haselhoff; and her sister-in-law, Marcella Wolff.
A Funeral Mass will be offered on Saturday, October 31, 2015, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Schaller. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery in Schaller. Visitation will take place Friday, October 30, 2015, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. with a recitation of the rosary at 5:30 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Schaller. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Schaller is in charge of the arrangements.
