February 14, 1949 - October 8, 2015

Steve Nieland, 66, of Newell, Iowa, passed away on October 8, 2015, at the Fonda Nursing and Rehab Center in Fonda, Iowa.

Steve was born on February 14, 1949, to Cyril and Barbara (Reis) Nieland in Carroll, Iowa. He grew up on the family farm south of Newell and attended Newell Providence Community Schools, graduating in 1967. Next, he enrolled at Iowa Central Community College in Fort Dodge where he obtained certificates in Diesel Mechanics and General Machining. He spent most of his working life trucking and working on the family farm.

Steve is survived by his wife Rose, of Newell; his children, Glenda Schick, and grandson Michael Jensen, of Omaha, Nebraska, Randy Nieland, also of Omaha, Nebraska, and Amber Nieland, of Chicago, Illinois; his siblings, Jerry (Deb) Nieland, of Newell, Shirley Mitchell, of Sac City, Bruce (Robin) Nieland, of Newell, Ann (Randy) Bond, of Alexander, Brenda (Coby) Sank, of Clive; as well as by many nieces and nephews. Steve was preceded in death by his infant sister, Jean Ann, and his parents Cyril and Barbara Nieland.

A private service will be held for Steve at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to Gunderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services.
