Jerrie Rene Bobolz
May 4, 1944 - October 15, 2015

Jerrie R. Bobolz, age 71, of Storm Lake, Iowa, died on Thursday, October 15, 2015, at the Newell Good Samaritan Society in Newell, Iowa.

Jerrie, a twin daughter of Gene and Irene (Barber) Firebaugh, was born on May 4, 1944, in Spencer, Iowa. Until 1950, she was raised on a farm in Sioux Rapids before her family moved to Sulphur Springs. Baptized into the Christian faith at the Church of Christ, she received her education in the Sulphur Springs Providence Consolidated School until 1960 when she transferred to Storm Lake Senior High.

In 1970, she married Donald Arthur Bobolz of Cherokee at Elks Point, South Dakota. They, then, lived in Storm Lake where Jerrie was a housewife. In time, their union was blessed with two daughters, Janet and Julie, and two sons, Terry and Gene Bobolz.

A long term member of the United Methodist Church in Storm Lake, Jerrie spent most of her life in the Storm Lake area. Living close to her grandchildren and great grandchildren, she enjoyed spending time with them and her close friends as well. Indeed, she thought of time with them as her special time.

In addition, she loved dancing, listening to music, playing cards, camping, fishing, sewing, embroidering, doing crafts, caring for her plants, karaoke singing, and playing pool. At one time, the members of her pool league wore sweatshirts identifying themselves as “The Fun Time Gals.” Later, however, they changed their name to honor veterans. Carrying her camera at all times, she became, especially, known as “the Picture Lady.” Good at helping others in need, she loved meeting people and always wore a smile.

Those who will lovingly remember her and cherish their memories of her include her husband and best friend, Don Bobolz, of Storm Lake, Iowa; her children: Julie (Pete) Pedersen, of Storm Lake, Iowa, Gene Bobolz, of Lakewood, Colorado, and Terry (Alicia) Bobolz, of Lakewood, Colorado; her brother, Larry (Sandy) Firebaugh, of Marathon, Iowa; her sister, Karen (Bill) Eickhoff, of Orange City, Iowa; her grandchildren: Alyssa and Dylan Bobolz; Harrison and Stevie Pedersen; and Chris and Rachel Wunder; her great grandchildren: Aiden Pulec; and Alexis, Justin, and Mason Wunder; as well as nieces, nephews, and a host of friends, especially her close friends: Dee Witte, Marj Rudolph, Addy Appleseth, Char Ulrich, and Carolyn Wilson, as well as others.

Those preceding her in death include her daughter, Janet (Bobolz) Brown; her parents, Gene and Irene; her twin sister, Jackie Jean Firebaugh; her aunt and uncles: Dick and Ethel Barber, Bob and Mary Ada Barber, and Alice Barber; her cousins, Dr. Roscoe and Cynthia Gutekunst; her very special Aunt Alberta and Ernie Gutel; her cousin, Alberta Nolan; her grandparents: Harold and Ruth (Jefferies) Barber and Glenn and Mary Mae (Chapman) Firebaugh; her great grandparents: William and Selina Barber and Curtis and Cynthia (Portor) Firebaugh; and her close friend, Shirley Herzog.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 17, 2015, at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Storm Lake. Burial will follow in the Storm Lake Cemetery. Visitation will take place Friday, October 16, 2015, from 5:00 to 7:30 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.
