Eloise Roder
June 22, 1937 - September. 22, 2015

Eloise "Loy" Roder, 78, of Hollister, Missouri, formerly of Linn Grove and Arnolds Park, Iowa, was called to her Lord and Savior on September 22, 2015.

A daughter of Emmett and Dorothy (Warme) Peterson, Eloise "Loy" was born on June 22, 1937, in Alta, Iowa.

Loy attended school in Linn Grove where she participated in band, basketball, choir, and cheerleading. She graduated in 1955.

On Aug. 28, 1955, Loy married Charles Floyd Roder. Together, they were blessed with four children: Shannon, Shane, Charlie, and Angi. Loy and Charles raised their family on their farm north of Linn Grove. They, later, retired to their lake home on West Lake Okoboji.

A classy lady, Loy enjoyed cooking, gardening, and bowling. Moreover, she avidly followed the fortunes of the Minnesota Vikings, the Iowa Hawkeyes, and NASCAR. In addition, she had a knack for solving the puzzles on Wheel of Fortune. Most of all, however, she loved spending time entertaining her family. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Loy was preceded in death by her parents, Emmett and Dorothy Peterson; her parents-in-law, Floyd and Harriet Roder; her sister-in-law, Sandie Peterson; and her brothers-in-law, Richard Roder and Richard "Curly" Morris.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Charles Roder; her children: Shannon (Terri) Roder, of Marathon, Iowa, Shane Roder, of Clarinda, Iowa, Charlie (Tracy) Roder, of Livermore, Iowa, and Angi (John) Van Engen, of Ridgedale, Missouri; her grandchildren: Logan Geisinger; Christopher (Katie), Paden, Ryan (Samantha), Shane, Jr., and Skyler (Ashley) Roder; Gaige and Trinity Van Engen; and Shonda (Colby) Vetter; her great-grandson, Emmett Charles Roder; and her siblings: Douglas (Judy) Peterson, of Okoboji, Iowa, Curtis (Charlotte) Peterson, of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Gregory (Nancy) Peterson, of Sioux Rapids, Iowa, Sandra Morris, of Alta, Iowa, and Cheryl (Stanley) Reynolds, of Oakland, Oregon; as well as extended family members and friends.

Loy's requested her body be donated to the Medical Education and Research Institute of Memphis, Tennessee. Her wish was granted to continue to help others in the medical field to find a cure for cancer.

Memorial services were held Saturday, September 26, 2015, at 1:30 p.m. at the First United Church in Sioux Rapids. Visitation followed the service at the Sioux Rapids Community Center.
