Marcella J. Jenkins
August 4, 1921 - June 17, 2015

Marcella J. Jenkins, age 93, of Storm Lake, Iowa, died on Wednesday, June 17, 2015, at the Methodist Manor Retirement Community in Storm Lake.

Marcella J. Borgstahl was born on August 4, 1921, to John and Agnes (Neumann) Borgstahl near Webster, Minnesota. She was baptized in the Lutheran faith on August 21, 1921.

At the age of seven, she moved with her parents to Iowa, settling near Vail and Denison, Iowa. She attended rural and Zion Lutheran parochial schools and was confirmed March 25, 1934, at Zion Lutheran Church in Denison.

On May 18, 1947, Marcella married Wilbert Jenkins. Their union was blessed with three children: David, Marsha, and Linda, who passed away April 15, 1955.

Marcella was employed by J.C. Penny in Denison and Storm Lake. After numerous moves because of her husband’s work related transfers, they moved to Huron, South Dakota, where she worked for Randall’s Super Value for fifteen years.

In October, 1979, Marcella retired with her husband and moved to Coeur D’Alene, Idaho, where they lived for twelve years before returning to Storm Lake in August, 1991.

Marcella was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Wilbert; her daughter, Linda; her brothers, William and Roland Borgstahl; her sister, Garnet Arnold; her step-sister, Olga Keska; three step-brothers, Arthur, Walter, and Gerhard Borgstahl, and their wives.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children: David (Patty) Jenkins, of Brandon, South Dakota; her daughter, Marsha (Rick) Schmid, of Sturgis, South Dakota; her grandchildren: Joe and John Jenkins, of Brandon, South Dakota, Melissa (Garrett) Caldwell, of Sturgis, South Dakota, and Carrie (Jamey) Allen, of Belle Fourche, South Dakota; and her great grandchildren: Danika and Dawsyn Caldwell; and Alexis, Andyn, Ashton, and Ava Allen; as well as nephews; nieces; extended family members; and friends.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 20, 2015, at 1:00 p.m. at Grace Lutheran Church in Storm Lake. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery in Denison, Iowa. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service at the church. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.
