Wilbur L. Fitchett, age 72, of Columbus, Ohio, died on Sunday, May 25, 2014, at his home.

Wilbur LeRoy Fitchett, a son of Ivan and Charlotte (Hoch) Fitchett, was born in Storm Lake on April 1, 1942. A Boy Scout, he earned his Eagle Scout badge. He enjoyed water skiing and bowling. He served in the Unites States Army and was a proud Shiner.

Wilbur moved to Columbus, Ohio, in 1972. He married Shirley Hazelett, but they later divorced. He was blessed with two sons, Duane Allen and Eric Cole. He enjoyed family and friends and came back to Iowa several times a year.

Wilbur's life will be remembered and celebrated by his sons, Duane Allen and Eric Cole, of North Carolina; his brother, Duane (Sandy) Fitchett, of Storm Lake; two nieces, Charlotte (Barry, Jr.) Copp, and their sons, Ethan, Logan, and Kegan, of Newell; and Peggy (Chad) Bloyer, and their son, Cole, of Galva; and two aunts, Fern Crowley, of Lakeside, and Joyce Robbins, of Alta; as well as by many cousins, other family members, and friends.

Wilbur was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Allen and Raymond, and several aunts and uncles.

A Celebration of Life for Wilbur LeRoy Fitchett will be held on June 13 at 10:00 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Storm Lake.
