John Carl Bueb
January 25, 1923 - June 14, 2015

John C. Bueb, age 92, of Storm Lake, Iowa, died on Sunday, June 14, 2015, at Loring Hospital in Sac City, Iowa.

John, a son of Carl A. and Hendricka (Ten Vordy) Bueb, was born on January 25, 1923, in Early, Iowa. Baptized at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Early in 1923, he was confirmed in his faith at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Storm Lake.

On April 13, 1943, John entered the United States Army. While serving his country in the 194th Glider Infantry during World War II, he met his beloved wife, Lilo. For his actions in the line of duty, John was awarded three Bronze Stars. On December 23, 1945, he was honorably discharged at Jefferson Barracks, Missouri.

On October 25, 1948, John married Lisolotte “Lilo” Burkhardt at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Storm Lake. Subsequently, they were blessed with seven children: John R., Mary A., Joseph M., Timothy R., Debra A., Cynthia J., and Karen E.

A dedicated member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Storm Lake and a longtime usher, he, also, served as a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus.

John worked structuring steel. He, then, began a lifelong career at Hy-Grade in Storm Lake. A skilled carpenter, he enjoyed restoring old cars as well. He loved his role as husband and father, especially when spending time with his family during their annual week-long vacations to Okoboji. John will be remembered as a devoted father, grandfather, brother, and friend to many.

Those left to cherish his memory include his children: Mary Alice (Sid) Akiona, of Makawao, Hawaii, Joseph (Naomi) Bueb, of Quito, Ecuador, Timothy (Cathy) Bueb, of Des Moines, Iowa, Debby (Rick) Miller, of Storm Lake, Iowa, Cindy (Jim) Ham, of Berthoud, Colorado, and Karen (Bruce) King, of Indiana Hills, Colorado; nine grandchildren; and five great grandchildren; as well as extended family members and friends.

John was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lilo; his son, John Roger Bueb; his brothers, Richard and Joseph; his sisters: Madeline Ludwig, Matilda Bueb, Catherine Mitchell, and Joanne Clemons.

A Funeral Mass will be offered on Friday, June 19, 2015, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Storm Lake. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery with Military Rites by the Alta VFW. Visitation will take place on Thursday, June 18, 2015, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. with a recitation of the rosary at 4:00 p.m. and a vigil service at 7:00 p.m. followed by a KC Rosary, all at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.
