April 2, 1954 - April 30, 2015

Kristine Ann (Smith) Anderson, age 61, of Harrisburg, South Dakota, and formerly of Storm Lake and Alta, Iowa, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, April 30, 2015, in South Dakota.

Kristine (Kris), a daughter of Paul and Norma (Johnson) Smith, was born on April 2, 1954, in Storm Lake, Iowa. Growing up on the family farm with her six siblings, she attended school in both Sulpher Springs and Storm Lake. After graduating from Storm Lake High School, she attended college at both Buena Vista University and Iowa Central Community College. Before she retired in 2013, she was employed at Architecture, Inc., in Sioux Falls.

In 1974, Kris married Jim Hildreth. They, subsequently, were blessed with two daughters, Sarah and Abigail (Abby). On May 31, 1996, she married Todd Anderson of Alta, becoming a step-mother to his children, Mollie and Justin.

A beautiful woman, Kris had an amazing array of talents. Nonetheless, she treasured spending time with her family above all else. Living life with grace and a positive outlook, she, always, put others’ needs before her own.

Those left to cherish Kris’s memory include her husband, Todd M. Anderson, of Harrisburg, South Dakota; her children, Sarah (Bill) Monroe, of Yuba City, California, Abby (Charlie) Glass, of Sac City, Iowa, Mollie Johnson, of West Des Moines, Iowa, and Justin (Kristin) Anderson, of Alta, Iowa; her parents, Paul and Norma Smith, of Storm Lake, Iowa; her siblings, Jon Smith, of Jefferson, Iowa, Paula (Ron) Long, of Sac City, Iowa, Phil (Jane) Smith, of Schleshwig, Iowa, Lou (Don) Krueger, of Austin, Texas, Sarah (Fred) Selinger, of Urbandale, Iowa, and Rob (Michelle) Smith, of Storm Lake, Iowa; and her grandchildren: Gavin and Nolin Anderson; Max Burnett; Mary Penelope and Millie Glass; Josie and Rex Johnson; Evan Lykins; and Mira and Nicholas Monroe; as well as many nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends. Kris was preceded in death by her grandparents, Art and Elva Johnson and Albert and Mary Penelope (Mayme) Smith.

Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, May 6, 2015, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Storm Lake. A private family burial will follow. Visitation will take place on Tuesday, May 5, 2015, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.
