Evelyn M. Larsen, age 84, of Albert City, Iowa, died on March 2, 2015, at Pleasant View Home in Albert City.

Evelyn Mae Nielsen, a daughter of Albert and Agnes (Christensen) Nielsen, was born in Tyler, Minnesota, on June 3, 1930. She lived her youth in the Tyler vicinity where she began her education in a country school. She, later, graduated from Tyler High School.

On June 16, 1951, Evelyn married Cyril Struss in Tyler, Minnesota. Subsequently, they were blessed with four sons: Alan, Daryl, Dean, and Keith. Evelyn and Cyril spent their married life the Tyler area. Cyril, however, died on April 17, 1966. On August 24, 1968, Evelyn married Clyde Larsen at Emanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tyler, Minnesota. Following their wedding, Clyde and Evelyn farmed near Tyler. Evelyn was, also, employed as a secretary at the Tyler Hospital. In 1975, the family moved to Denison, Iowa, where Evelyn worked for Clark’s Concrete. In 2004, Clyde and Evelyn moved to Albert City. Clyde died on July 1, 2013. For the past eight years, Evelyn resided at the Pleasant View Home.

She was a member of the Our Savior’s Lutheran Church at Albert City. Evelyn loved dogs and birds and enjoyed crocheting and doing puzzles.

Evelyn’s life will always be celebrated and cherished by her family which includes her children: Alan (Geraldine) Struss, of Owatonna, Minnesota, Daryl Struss, of Sioux City, Iowa, Dean (Colleen) Struss, of Albert City, Iowa, and Keith (Janet) Struss; twelve grandchildren: Daniel (Sarah), Brian, Aaron (Neomi), Mindy (Eric), Rob (Katie), Kirk, Travis (Janna), Erik (Danielle), Alex, Ben (Nicole), Cy, and Sarah; fourteen great grandchildren: Paytyn, Kaiden, Lilly, Trenton, Sawyer, Kyle, Logan, Oceanna, Lea, Ellie, Jaxon, Ava, Jamie, and Olivia; as well as other extended family members and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands; one sister; and a great granddaughter, Alyssa Struss.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 5, 2015, at 10:00 a.m. at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Albert City. Burial will take place in the Danebod Cemetery in Tyler, Minnesota, at 3:00 p.m. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service at the church. The Sliefert Funeral Home in Albert City is in charge of the arrangements.
