Tommy D. Parker
May 20, 1950 - October 22, 2014Tommy D. Parker, of Fairfield Bay, Arkansas, passed away on October 22, 2014, at the age of 64 following a brief illness.
Tom was born on May 20, 1950, to Ellen and Van Parker in Alta, Iowa. He spent his childhood years in Alta, graduating from Alta Community High School in 1969. Then, he was drafted into the US Army where he served for two years. On August 19, 1974, he married Marilyn Jessen. They were blessed with three children, Chad, Jaime, and Jessica. Tom and Marilyn decided to move their family to Fairfield Bay, Arkansas, in 1984. He worked for a heating and cooling contractor and then purchased the business in 1990, renaming it Parker Heating and Air Conditioning Service. His son, Chad, started working with Tom after graduating and will continue running the business.
Tom loved to have fun; he loved the Arkansas Razorbacks; and he enjoyed life in Arkansas, especially hunting and fishing with Chad and his sons-in-law. He cherished the members of his family, who are now left to cherish their memories of holidays, trips, and family gatherings.
Tom, also, had a special love for animals and frequently visited the Humane Society. People there always joked that if a blue heeler needed a good home, it had found its lucky day when Tom walked through the door.
Those left to cherish Tom's memory include his wife, Marilyn; his son, Chad Parker (Polly), of Greenbrier, Arkansas; his daughters, Jaime Dublin (Tim), of Greenbrier, Arkansas, and Jessica Roberts (Jason), of Hayti, Missouri; his mother, Ellen Parker, of Alta, Iowa; his brothers, Rick Parker (Luann), of Slayton, Minnesota, and Kris Parker (Tami), of Persia, Iowa; his sisters, Kathy Movall (Loren), of Storm Lake, Iowa, and Susan Gaes (Jeff McGrath), of Aurelia, Iowa; and five grandchildren, Mattilyn and Sadie Dublin, Alexander Parker, Mason Roberts, and Kennedy Smith; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Tom was preceded in death by his father, Van D. Parker
A memorial service was held on Saturday, October 25th in Fairfield Bay at the Baptist Church with military honors.
