August 6, 1953 - December 8, 2014

Steven Ray Patten, a son of William and Neoma (Fleming) Patten, was born on August 6, 1953, in Buena Vista County, Iowa. He spent his childhood in Sioux Rapids where he received his early education. Later, he graduated from Storm Lake High School in 1973.

Steve married Norma Jean Patten on August 5, 1989, in Storm Lake, Iowa. After their wedding, they lived in Storm Lake before moving to Spencer, Iowa, in 1990, where they had lived ever since.

Steve Patten touched the lives of many people, who will remember him in their own way. He enjoyed going to the Main Street Café for coffee every morning. He loved working at the Clay County Fair, which he did for about twenty years. He liked playing games on his computer, watching cartoons with his grandkids, Dallas & Mackenzie, and playing bingo. He enjoyed watching wrestling, the Kansas City Chiefs, and his favorite NASCAR driver, Jimmy Johnson, #48. He never missed a race or a Kansas City Chief’s football game on TV.

Steve passed away at the Spencer Hospital on Monday, December 8, 2014, at the age of 61. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Sheila Patten.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Jean, of Spencer; his stepdaughter, Kelly, and her husband, Robert Dillard, their two children, Dallas and Mackenzie, and their stepdaughter, Michelle, and her husband, Gary Miller, of Spencer, and their children, Alex and Samantha Miller; one stepson, Travis Lavine, of Omaha, Nebraska; and one great grandchild; Zoey; as well as other relatives and friends.

SERVICES: 10:30 A.M, Friday, December 12, 2014, at the Warner Chapel in Spencer, Pastor Kay Hooper officiating.
CASKET BEARERS: Luke Meyer, Matt Stewart, Larry Stewart, Shawn Hollander, Rick Hollander, Katrina Hollander.
VISITATION: One hour prior to the services at the Warner Funeral Home in Spencer.
INTERMENT: North Lawn Memorial Park, Spencer, Iowa.

A lunch and time of fellowship will be held at the Moose Lodge in Spencer immediately following the graveside services.
