December 10, 1915 - November 12, 2014lma M. Boettcher, age 98, of Storm Lake, Iowa, died on Wednesday, November 12, 2014, at the Methodist Manor Retirement Community in Storm Lake.
Alma Meta Amanda Louise Buchholz was born on December 10, 1915, a daughter of Fredrich H. and Ida (Hartje) Buchholz, on a farm in Grant Township, Buena Vista County, Storm Lake.
Alma lived on the farm and received her education at Zion Lutheran Parochial School. A member of Zion Lutheran Church all her life, she was baptized there on January 10, 1916, and later confirmed there as well on April 13, 1930.
On October 10, 1946, Alma married Wilbur H. Boettcher of Albert City. Four children were born to this union: Dean, Dale, Donna, and Don. As a family, they lived on a farm near Rembrandt, Iowa. After Wilbur passed away in 1967, Alma continued to live on the farm until 1995 when she moved to Storm Lake.
Alma loved gardening, canning, and fishing. She, also, enjoyed attending basketball and baseball games and went to almost all of her children's and grandchildren’s ball games. In addition, she loved to play cards and bingo. She, very much, treasured spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children: Dean (Linda) Boettcher, of Adel, Iowa, Dale (Roberta) Boettcher, of Albert City, Iowa, Donna (Ray) Hemphill, of Adel, Iowa, and Don “Punk” Boettcher, of Rembrandt, Iowa; her grandchildren: Tony Boettcher, of Albert City, Iowa, Todd (Erica) Boettcher, of Rembrandt, Iowa, Tara (Ryan) Henrichsen, of Rochester, Minnesota, Damon (Kayce) Boettcher, of Frisco, Texas, Trevor (Kylee) Boettcher, of Panora, Iowa, Matthew (Amy) Hemphill, of Adel, Iowa, and Lindsay Hemphill (fiancé, Dominic Dittman), of West Des Moines, Iowa; her great grandchildren: Carter, Dalton, Danielle, Judson, Karly, Landon, Trey, Tyce, and Tyme Boettcher and Noah, Ella, and Anna Henrichsen; and her sister, Leona Boettcher, of Storm Lake, Iowa; as well as extended family members and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbur; her parents, Fredrich and Ida Buchholz; three sisters: Paula Madison, Dorthea Kruse, and Lea Gaes; and three brothers: Art, Walter, and Raymond Buchholz.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 15, 2014, at 10:30 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Storm Lake. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will take place Friday, November 14, 2014 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.
