Sandra “Sandi” K. Peterson, age 51, of Sioux Rapids, Iowa, died on Friday, September 26, 2014, at the Spencer Municipal Hospital at Spencer, Iowa.

Sandra Kay Appeldorn, a daughter of Delbert and Marcella (Mesner) Appeldorn, was born in Primghar, Iowa, on October 15, 1962. Baptized and confirmed at the St. John’s Lutheran Church in Germantown, she lived her youth in Paullina and graduated from the Paullina High School in 1981. Then, she continued her education and Westmar and Briar Cliff Colleges where she studied music and developmental psychology. Sandi was an avid dart player from 1986-1994.

On June 3, 2000, Sandi married Brent Peterson at Bethany Lutheran Church in Spencer, Iowa. They, subsequently, spent their married life in Spencer and Sioux Rapids.

Throughout her life, Sandi worked as a waitress, a cook, and a bartender in the Iowa Great Lakes area at Tweeters,' Mother Nature's, and the Dry Dock. While she resided in Spencer, she worked at The Hotel and at the deli at Super Value. In Storm Lake, she was also associated with the food service industry at Sparky’s 3 & 71 and at the deli of Liberty Foods at the Sara Lee Plant. In addition, for a period of time, she worked at Jack Links Distribution Center in Laurens.

Interested in creative floral crafts, Sandi made many beautiful gifts to share with her family and friends. She, also, enjoyed cooking, watching TV, listening to music, and caring for her cats. Both Sandi and Brent served on the Sioux Rapids Beautification Committee.

Sandi is lovingly remembered by her husband, Brent, of Sioux Rapids, Iowa; her son, Jason Geisinger, of Peterson, Iowa; three brothers, Dennis (Sandy) Appeldorn, of Ankeny, Iowa, Rodney Appeldorn, of Farmington, Arkansas, and Larry (Kristie) Appeldorn, of Paullina, Iowa; her sister, Stephanie (Greg) Mesner-Ficken, of Spencer, Iowa; and her mother-in-law, Pat Peterson, of Aurelia, Iowa; as well as by other extended family members and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother-in-law, Randy Mesner; and her father-in-law, Stanley Peterson.
