Connie Lou (Lichtenberg) Lietz was born at the Alta Community Hospital in Alta, Iowa, on July 20, 1942, to Earl and Lois Lichtenberg. She was baptized on August 23rd, 1942, and confirmed on March 25th, 1956, into the Christian faith at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Alta. Following her high school graduation from Alta Community School, she went on to earn an Associate’s Degree in X-Ray Technology from Sacred Heart Hospital in Yankton, South Dakota. She, then, worked at the Buena Vista Hospital in Storm Lake, Iowa, as an X-Ray Technician.
On March 24th, 1963, Connie married Howard Lietz. They were, subsequently, blessed with five children, Jeff, Cherry, Tanya, Amy, and Toby. For many years, they lived on and cared for their farm south of Alta. Connie was an active and faithful member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.
Connie treasured her family and friends. She enjoyed cooking, reading, taking care of her animals, and caring for her family. She especially loved playing games, gardening, and visiting with family and friends. She also enjoyed sewing, quilting, knitting and playing cards. She will be greatly missed.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Jeff (Chrislaine) Lietz, of Alta, Cherry (George) Snelling, of Seattle, Washington, Tanya (Doug) Anschutz, of Woodbury, Minnesota, Amy (Jay) Roberts, of Renton, Washington, and Toby (Kelly) Lietz, of West Des Moines; her sister, Sharon (Ed) Roscoe, of Cocoa Beach, Florida; her brothers, Larry (Mary) Lichtenberg, of Hobart, Oklahoma, Laurel (Carolla) Lichtenberg, of Republic, Washington, Eldon (Donna) Lichtenberg, of Alta, and Randy (Carol) Lichtenberg, of Alta; her aunts, Wilma Starkey and Donnabelle Sievert, and her twelve grandchildren; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Earl and Lois; her husband, Howard; and her brother, Eugene.
Funeral: St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of Alta on Saturday, July 12th, 2014, at 10:00 a.m.
