Donna Marie Davis
December 23, 1932 - July 27, 2014Donna Davis, age 81, of Storm Lake, Iowa, died on Sunday, July 27, 2014, at the Newell Good Samaritan Society in Newell, Iowa.
Donna Marie Merkley was born on December 23, 1932, in Schaller, Iowa, a daughter of Glenn and Gladys (Hahne) Merkley. Growing up, she attended school in Schaller, graduating from Schaller High School.
On December 10, 1950, Donna married Donald D. “Red” Davis. They were, subsequently, blessed with three children: Mark, Jody, and Miles.
Donna spent her life as a homemaker, caring for her children. In her spare time, she volunteered at the Storm Lake Public Library. In recognition of her dedication, she received the Volunteer of the Year Award in 2008. A member of the Lakeside Presbyterian Church, she enjoyed making quilt tops there for charitable causes. An avid reader, she also enjoyed spending time her gardening and crocheting.
Most of all, however, Donna loved and cherished her time with family and friends. Indeed, she adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children: D. Mark (Peggy) Davis, of Winthrop, Minnesota, Jody Neppl, of Fonda, Iowa, and Miles D. (Laurie) Davis, of Bellevue, Nebraska; her grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Jamie (Britt) Davis, and son, Corey, of Hutchinson, Minnesota, Jeff (Lisa) Davis, and children, Megan and Mason of Buffalo, Minnesota; Nate (Judy) Jones, and children, Matthea, Tatum, and Grady of Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, Kim Neppl, and daughter, Hadleigh, of Fonda, Iowa, Jared (Iva) Neppl, and daughters, Kinsley and Kady, of Ankeny, Iowa, and Chandler and Matt Davis, of Bellevue, Nebraska; as well as extended family members and friends.
Donna was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Donald Davis; her brother, Darrell Merkley; her sisters, Lavon Dorsey and Glennadean Merkley; and her son-in-law, Larry Neppl.
Private graveside services will be held at the Schaller Cemetery. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.
