Joanne M. De Martini, age 80, of Storm Lake, Iowa, died on Monday, March 31, 2014, at North Lake Manor in Storm Lake.
Joanne M. Tompkins was born on April 16, 1933, in Athens, Pennsylvania, a daughter of Adam Tompkins and Lucretia (Wells) Hodge.
Baptized on April 17, 1938, at the First Methodist Church in Athens, she attended school in Athens, where she later graduated. She furthered her education at the University of Pennsylvania, receiving several honors from NASA. Blessed with three children, David Louis and Charles William McIntire and SueAnn Marie McCardell, Joanne spent her life as a homemaker, caring for her children.
In her spare time, Joanne enjoyed knitting, crocheting, painting, and reading. She also joined the Coralleers. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, and sister and will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved her.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children: Charles McIntire, of Storm Lake, Iowa, and SueAnn, of Spencer, Iowa; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a brother, Eugene Hodge, of New York; and a sister, Betty Delp, of Storm Lake; as well as extended family members and friends.
Joanne was preceded in death by her parents; her son, David L. McIntire; and a grandson, Charles E. McIntire.
Memorial Service: 1:00 p.m., April 05, 2014, at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake, Iowa.
