Gerald M. "Scotty" Scott, age 79, of Rockport, Texas, and formerly of Storm Lake, Iowa, died on Sunday, September 29, 2013, at his home in Rockport.

Gerald Marion Scott was born at home on March 7, 1934, to Osborn H. and Malania M. (Schmitt) Scott. He was baptized into the Catholic faith as an infant and received his education at Randolph Grade and High Schools in Randolph, Nebraska, graduating in 1951. From 1952 to 1955 during the Korean Conflict, Scotty served in the United States Navy as an Aerial Engineer. Following his military service, he attended Universal Trades School in Omaha, Nebraska, graduating in 1956.

On September 2, 1957, he married Agnes Brander at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Sioux City, Iowa. They were, subsequently, blessed with four children: Kelly, Julie, Daniel, and Karen. Shortly after their marriage, they moved to Storm Lake to open a business, Scott Refrigeration. Scotty retired in 2012. His wife, Agnes, died in 2006. In 2013, he married Cynthia Eberle and moved to Rockport, Texas.

Scotty was a faithful member of the Catholic Church. He enjoyed painting, fishing, gardening, cheering on the Corn Huskers, and playing with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He loved his family and friends and treasured the time he spent with them.

Those left to cherish his memory include his children: Kelly Den Hartog, of Port Byron, Illinois, Julie (Don) Erps, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Daniel (Teri) Scott, of Beresford, South Dakota, and Karen Scott (Cory Hawkins), of Storm Lake, Iowa; his wife, Cindy Scott, of Rockport, Texas, and her son, Geoff Eddie, of Pella, Iowa; his grandchildren: Michael Erps, Jennifer Harding, Derek and Nate Harjes, Alex Den Hartog, Ben and Sam Simonds, and Heather Wagner; six great grandchildren; his brothers: Leon, Eugene, Laverne, Larry, and Ron; and a sister, Donna; as well as extended family members and many friends.

Scotty was preceded in death by his wife, Agnes; his parents, Osborn and Melane Scott; and four brothers: Duane, Lowell, Dale, and LaMont Scott.

Visitation: 4:00-8:00 p.m., October 06, 2013, at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake, Iowa.
Mass of Christian Burial: 10:30 a.m., October 07, 2013, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Storm Lake, Iowa.
Vigil Service: 7:00 p.m. with a KC Rosary to follow, October 06, 2013, at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake, Iowa.
Interment: October 07, 2013, at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Storm Lake, Iowa.
