Janette “Jan” Christensen, age 74, of Storm Lake, Iowa, died on August 10, 2013, in Storm Lake.
Janette “Jan” G. Lind was born on May 16, 1939, in Storm Lake, Iowa, the daughter of Melvin and Venetta (Goodness) Lind. She attended school in Storm Lake where she grew up. On August 14, 1956, she married Chris P. Christensen in Leesville, Louisiana. They were blessed with one son, Richard.
A member of the United Methodist Church in Storm Lake, Jan enjoyed music, crocheting, and knitting. While living in Colorado, she and Chris liked jeeping in the mountains. In her later years, she also loved wintering in Texas. In addition, she enjoyed going to the Elks Club to play cards and to have dinner.
Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Richard “Rick” (Vicki) Christensen, of Deer Trail, Colorado; her sister, Josie (Dean) Ellingson, of Storm Lake, Iowa; her brothers-in-law, Walt Christensen, of Denver, Colorado, and Arnold (Delores) Christensen, of Grand Rapids, Minnesota; her sister-in-law, Jeannie Skinner, of Colorado Springs, Colorado; and her nieces and nephews: Derek (Lori) Ellingson, of Kansas City, Missouri, Keri (Jason) Schuelke, of Storm Lake, Iowa, Roberta Christensen, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Mark Christensen, of Denver, Colorado, Todd (Melissa) Christensen, of Rochester, Minnesota, Julie Christensen, of Grand Rapids, Minnesota, Tina (Jeff) Hoover, of Peyton, Colorado, and Julius Jackson, of Colorado Springs, Colorado; as well as extended family members and friends.
Jan was preceded in death by her husband, Chris Christensen, and her parents, Melvin and Venetta Lind.
A special thank you to the staff at Methodist Manor for the wonderful care she received.
Memorial Service: 1:00 p.m., August 17, 2013, at the United Methodist Church in Storm Lake, Iowa.
