August 24, 1925 - July 1, 2013Clyde J. Larsen, age 87, of Albert City, Iowa, died on Monday, July 1, 2013, at the Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City, Iowa.
Clyde Jens Larsen, the son of Hans and Eva (Hagensen) Larsen, was born in Tyler, Minnesota, on August 24, 1925. He lived his youth and received his education in the Tyler vicinity.
On August 24, 1968, Clyde married Evelyn Nielsen at Emanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tyler, thereby joining himself to her family which included Alan, Daryl, Dean, and Keith. Following their marriage, Clyde and Evelyn farmed near Tyler. In addition, Clyde sold seed corn as well as various types of farm equipment. In 1975, the family moved to Denison, Iowa, where Clyde was employed at Petersen Manufacturing. In 2004, Clyde and Evelyn came to Albert City where they had since made their home.
Clyde was a member of the Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Albert City and the Masonic Lodge in Tyler. He enjoyed woodworking and attending the Threshermen’s celebration each year. As a young man, he, also, enjoyed bowling and hunting. Clyde valued his family as a very important part of his life, and he especially treasured his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He always attended their activities when he could.
Clyde’s life will always be celebrated and cherished by his family which includes his wife, Evelyn, of Albert City, Iowa; his children: Alan (Geraldine) Struss, of Owatonna, Minnesota, Daryl Struss, of Sioux City, Iowa, Dean (Colleen) Struss, of Albert City, Iowa, and Keith (Janet) Struss, also of Albert City, Iowa; twelve grandchildren: Daniel (Sarah), Brian, Aaron (Neomi), Mindy (Eric), Rob (Katie), Kirk, Travis (Janna), Erik (Danielle), Alex, Ben, Cy, and Sarah; and fourteen great grandchildren: Paytyn, Kaiden, Lilly, Trenton, Sawyer, Oceanna, Lea, Ellie, Jaxon, Ava, Jamie, Olivia, Kyle, and Logan; as well as other extended family members and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a great granddaughter, Alyssa Struss.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 6, 2013, at 10:00 a.m. at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Albert City. Burial will be in the Danebod Cemetery in Tyler, Minnesota, at 3:00 p.m. Visitation will take place on Friday, July 5, 2013, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the Sliefert Funeral Home in Albert City. The Sliefert Funeral Home in Albert City is in charge of the arrangements.
