William Dubois
August 11, 1932 - October 5, 2012

With his family by his side, William Alva "Bill" Dubois, 80, passed away October 5, 2012, at Freeman West Hospital in Missouri after a short illness.

Bill and his family were former residents of the Storm Lake, Alta, and Rembrandt areas before moving to Missouri.

Bill was born on August 11, 1932, in Sioux Rapids to Sherwin and Opal Dubois. He graduated from Cornell High School and subsequently attended Buena Vista College. He was a veteran of the Korean War and a member of the United Methodist Church. In 1956, he married Bjorg Marit Selfors in Jackson, Minnesota. He loved all sports and had a keen eye for politics.

After thirty-seven years of service with the US Depart of Agriculture, Bill retired in 2010. Prior to his service with the USDA, he worked for the postal service.

Bill was able to reach so many of the goals he set for himself. Challenged to promote his Arabian horses, he sought to improve their bloodlines. His amazing success in the show ring resulted in a seemingly endless number of trophies, ribbons, and a Legion of Merit award with his stallion Auric in both the U.S. and Canada. Later, he extended his focus to promoting his Gelbvieh cows, also striving to improve their bloodlines in the U.S, and Canada.

A devoted husband, father, grandparents, and great-grandparent, Bill loved his family beyond measure. In 2008, he and Bjorg adopted their great-granddaughter, Kayla. The challenges they faced and the devotion they gave to their new daughter, without a doubt, changed their lives for the best. Kayla certainly became the "apple of Bill's eye!"

Bill is survived by his wife, Bjorg; his children, Katherine Dubois, of Neosho, Missouri, Marc Dubois, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Kayla at home; his grandson, Brett (Jessica) Dubois, and their children, Graham and Deaton, of Gentry, Arkansas; his brothers: Kenneth (Joann) Dubois, of Sioux Rapids, John (Bev) Dubois, of Lorimor, Iowa, and Gordon Dubois, of New Orleans, Louisiana.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Scott, who died in 1988.

A memorial service was held at the Chapel of Memories in Neosha, Missouri.
