Pam Nielsen, age 56, of Newell, Iowa, died August 30, 2012, at her home.
Pamela Lee Kirk was born July 4, 1956 in Audubon, Iowa, the daughter of Norman and Harriet Curry Kirk. As an infant, she was baptized at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Audubon. In 1971, she was confirmed at the Exira Lutheran Church in Exira.
Growing up, Pam attended Exira Elementary School and graduated from Exira Community High School in 1974 where she was a member of the National Honor Society. A member of the Exira Rainbow Assembly, Exira Luther League, and the Exira Community Choir, she actively participated in many musicals while in high school.
On May 24, 1975, Pam married Randall Nielsen at the Exira Lutheran Church. They were blessed with two sons, Christopher Lee and Joshua Lynn.
A member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Storm Lake, Pam took part in the praise band, Crosswind. A member of the Storm Lake Music Boosters and Storm Lake Relay for Life, she work first as a Head Start Teacher and then at Ressler Drug as a Pharmacy Technician for many years. Afterward, she worked at the HyVee Pharmacy.
Pam treasured participating in activities with her family and friends, especially playing with her grandchildren. Musically gifted, she loved playing the piano and organ, and she also liked singing in the Sharon Oaks Band. In her spare time, she enjoyed golfing. Always having time for those close to her, she will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Randy Nielsen, of Newell, Iowa; her sons, Christopher and Joshua (Brenda) Nielsen, of Newell, Iowa; her grandchildren, Hanna, Rilyn, and Rowyn Nielsen; her mother, Harriet Kirk, of Newell, Iowa; her sister, Debbie (Thor) Carlson, of Leander, Texas; her parents-in-law, Elmer and Helen Nielsen, of Exira, Iowa; and her brothers-in-law, Rick (Diane) Nielsen and Bob (Sylvia) Nielsen, all of Exira, Iowa; as well as nieces; nephews; cousins; extended family; and many friends.
Pam was preceded in death by her father, Norman Kirk.
Visitation: 2:00-7:00 p.m., September 01, 2012, at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake, Iowa. Funeral Service: 1:00 p.m., September 02, 2012, at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Storm Lake, Iowa. Interment: September 02, 2012, at the Newell Cemetery in Newell, Iowa.
