Myron D. Kolpin
August 20, 1931 - July 29, 2012Alta
Myron, the son of Richard and Ella Bedke Kolpin, was born on August 20, 1931, in Galva, Iowa. He attended grade school at Galva and graduated from Galva High School in 1949. Stationed in Germany during the Korean Conflict, he served in the US Army from February, 1952, to January, 1954.
On August 11, 1978, Myron married Jeri Larson in Charter Oak, Iowa. They, subsequently, built their home and lived in Alta. They also enjoyed spending time at their home in Spirit Lake.
Myron farmed for twenty years in the Galva area and was a crop adjuster for thirty-seven years up until his death. Crop adjusting was his passion as he enjoyed being in the fields and talking to all the farmers. He also liked to remodel houses and had numerous rentals throughout the years.
A member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Alta, the Galva American Legion, the Alta Golf and Country Club, Myron also served several years on the Alta Planning and Zoning Board.
Myron had a strong work ethic, a great sense of humor, and a quick wit. He made friends easily. An extremely loyal Green Bay Packers fan, he also enjoyed golfing and loved playing cards. Cherishing the time he spent with family and friends, he always looked forward to the traditional Thanksgiving dinner that he and Jeri prepared for their entire family for twenty years. He dearly loved his wife and family and had a soft spot in his heart for his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his sister, Ardys; his oldest son, Rick; his granddaughter, Morgan; his brothers-in-law, Joseph Wright and Joseph Peters; his father-in-law, Ralph Larson; and his nephew, Jace Wright.
Myron is survived by his wife, Jeri; two sons, Ronny, of Spirit Lake, and Robin, and his wife, Kandi, of Spirit Lake; his daughter-in-law, Chris Kolpin, of Wichita, Kansas; his grandchildren, Jason (Adonna) Kolpin, Thomas (Michele) Kolpin, Michael (Christie) Kolpin, Jorden Kolpin, and fiancé, James Dolmage, Kye (Brynn) Kolpin, and Quinn Kolpin; eight great grandchildren, Austin, Catherine, Ryan, Mikayla, Tyhler, Zachary, Evan, and Kaleb; one sister, Elaine Wright, of Storm Lake; his sister-in-law, Pat Peters, of North Bend, Nebraska; his mother-in-law, Vernet Larson, of Denison; his aunt, Lorna Heinse, of Holstein; his faithful dog, Levi; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Myron loved life and lived it to the fullest. He will be dearly missed!
