Born January 14, 1925, in Alta, Iowa, to Sigrid and Ludwig Strand, Paulline Conard graduated from Alta High School in 1942. After high school, she attended NBT Business College in Sioux City, Iowa. After graduating from NBT, she moved to California and lived with her sister Lucille and her husband Lyle Madson.
Paulline married Lloyd Conard just after World War II ended in 1945. The couple moved back to Alta, Iowa, where they lived for the rest of their lives. She worked as a part-time librarian at the Alta Public Library for many years as well as at Vilas and the Buena Vista County Care Facility.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lloyd; her son, Charles Conard; her brother, Donald Strand; and her sisters, Helen Jacobson and Lucille Madson.
She is survived by her son, Clayton Conard, and his wife, Margot Tollefson Conard; her daughter, Christine Jones; five grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and two great-great- grandchildren.
