Orval Hamann, age 91, of Newell, Iowa, died Sunday, June 17, 2012, at the Good Samaritan Center in Newell.

Orval J. Hamann was born on October 22, 1920, in Persia, Iowa, the son of John and Alma Hamann. He attended country school in Persia.

On November 22, 1941, Orval married Macyl Bodholdt in Buena Vista County.

Over the years, Orval enjoyed working on various projects and took pride in his abilities as a handy man. A dedicated farmer for many, many years, Orval took great pleasure in working the land. He loved his family and the time they spent together.

Those left to cherish Orval’s memory include his children, his grandchildren, great grandchildren, his great-great grandchildren, his sisters, and a special friend, Ethel Crowley, as well as extended family members and friends.

Orval was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a child, two brothers, and one sister.

Visitation: 6:00-8:00 p.m., June 19, 2012, at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Newell, Iowa.
Funeral Service: 2:00 p.m., June 20, 2012, at the Nain Lutheran Church in Newell, Iowa.
Interment: 00, 000 at Newell Cemetery.
