March 24, 1926 - May 14, 2012Donald B. Snyder, age 86, of Webb, Iowa, died Monday, May 14, 2012, at the Sioux Care Center in Sioux Rapids.
Donald Barton Snyder was born March 24, 1926, in New Underwood, South Dakota, the son of Glen and Amelia (Siekman) Snyder. He attended grade school in the Linn Grove area, graduating from Linn Grove High School with the class of 1943.
On March 27, 1948, Donald married Joyce Dalziel at the Methodist parsonage in Sioux Rapids, Iowa. This union was blessed with three children: Joy, Bart, and Joni.
As a youth, Donald was involved in 4-H, showing livestock. He would continue his love of animals throughout his years by riding and showing Quarter horses, reining horses, and team roping. He clearly demonstrated his love of the land by the pride he took in farming. He loved and adored his family and will be forever remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend.
Those left to cherish Donald’s memory include his wife of sixty-four years, Joyce Snyder, of Webb, Iowa; his children: Joy Winfrey, of Casper, Wyoming, Bart (Jane) Snyder, of Mt. Vernon, Missouri, and Joni (Todd) Campidilli, of Woodward, Iowa; his grandchildren: Robert Winfrey, Lisa (Kevin) Day, Christy (Chris) Schakel, Kalvin (Kelli Jo) Glienke, Cody (Kaci) Snyder, and Clayton Campidilli; six great grandchildren; one brother, Tom (Diane) Snyder, of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; and one sister, Joan Walquist, of Linn Grove, Iowa; as well as extended family and many friends who shared in his life.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents, Glen and Amelia Snyder; and his brother-in-law, Don Walquist.
Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, May 21, 2012, at the Sliefert-Smith Funeral Home in Webb. Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 p.m., Sunday, May 20, 2012, at the Sliefert-Smith Funeral Home in Webb with the family present to greet friends. Arrangements are under the direction of the Sliefert-Smith Funeral Home of Webb.
