Janet C. Buchholz, age 73, of Storm Lake, Iowa, died January 14, 2012, from complications of a stroke and diabetes at the Methodist Manor Retirement Community in Storm Lake.
Janet Carolyn Halverson, the daughter of Bernard and Beatrice (Lyster) Halverson, was born in Spencer, Iowa, on January 21, 1938. She lived her youth and received her education in Linn Grove, graduating from the Linn Grove High School in 1956. Janet attended Westmar College in LeMars for two years and then completed her education at Buena Vista College, graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education.
On August 4, 1963, Janet married Ronald Buchholz at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Linn Grove, Iowa. She and Ronnie were the proud parents of two daughters, Nancy and Jorja. During her teaching career, Janet taught fourth grade in Albert City for twelve years. She, then, became a devoted stay at home wife, mother, and homemaker. When her daughters were older, she returned to work as a med aide manager at Methodist Manor and Lutheran Family Services.
Janet was a member of Zion Lutheran Church of Storm Lake and the Lutheran Women's Missionary League (LWML). She also belonged to the Garden Club, the Thursday Study Club, and a couple’s card club. Her special interests included flower gardening and calligraphy. Despite her disabilities, she always kept a positive attitude.
Janet’s life will be honored and cherished by her family which includes her husband, Ronald “Ronnie,” of Storm Lake, Iowa, her two daughters: Nancy (Allan) Janss, of Johnston, Iowa, and Jorja (Brad) Gibbins, of Storm Lake, Iowa; her two granddaughters: Chelsey Gibbins and Aubrey Janss; her sister, Joelle (Robert) McIlroy, of Alliance, Ohio; and her brother-in-law, Sieg Buchholz, of Osage Beach, Missouri; as well as other extended family and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister-in-law, Norma Buchholz.
Visitation: 4:00-8:00 p.m., January 17, 2012, at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake, Iowa.
Funeral Service: 10:30 a.m., January 18, 2012, at Zion Lutheran Church in rural Storm Lake, Iowa.
Interment: January 18, 2012, at Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery, Storm Lake, Iowa.Blessed be the memory of Janet Carolyn Buchholz.
