Sharon Kay Swenson-Anders, 74, longtime resident of rural Albert City, passed away Tuesday, September 27, 2011, in St. John's Hospital in Springfield, Missouri.

Sharon was born in Storm Lake on June 4, 1937, a daughter of Carl Oscar (Ozzie) and Eleanor (Clausen) Swenson. She was raised and attended school in Albert City. On January 2, 1954, she married Merwin "Andy" Anders in Joplin, Missouri.

Sharon was an accomplished homemaker and assisted in all phases of farm work. In later years, she worked in retail sales in Omaha, Nebraska, and Springfield, Missouri.

Her home and her family were her pride and joy. Sharon was very involved in the lives of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved going to their ballgames, recitals, and other activities.

Sharon loved being around people and made friends easily wherever she went. She enjoyed fashion, decorating, eating out with her friends, fishing, boating and spending time with her friends and family.

She is survived by her three children, Sherri Peterson (Dennis), of Cedar Falls, Kristi Horst (Larry), of Greeley, Colorado, and Chuck (Gail) Anders, of Nixa, Missouri; her grandchildren: Charlie Peterson, Mimi McKay, Adrienne Stagner, Lauren and Landon Horst, Emily Holmes, and Ted and Bart Anders; and her five great- grandchildren and two very special friends, Maggie Behrens and Carolyn Ludwig. She was preceded in death by her parents Ozzie and Eleanor Swenson, and her ashes will be placed next to them in the Fairfield Township Cemetery.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, November 26, 2011, at 2:00 p.m. at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Albert City. A reception will be held in the fellowship hall following the services. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in the Fairfield Township Cemetery in Albert City. The Sliefert Funeral Home in Albert City is in charge of the arrangements.
