Marjorie Lois Meseck, 88, of Urbandale, passed away on Wednesday, May 11, 2011.
Marjorie was born July 29, 1922, in Lanesboro, the daughter of George and Hattie (Remsburg) Widman. While earning a college degree, she attended Buena Vista College in Storm Lake and Westmar College in Le Mars. On Nov. 21, 1943, Marjorie married Lawrence Meseck in Storm Lake.
A lifetime member of the National Education Association, Marjorie, subsequently, taught for several years in Cylinder, Grinnell, Merrill, Hinton and Carroll. She was also a member of the Lutheran Church. She enjoyed sewing, playing dominoes and cards, wintering in Arizona, and cooking wonderful meals.
She is survived by three daughters: Linda (Michael) Lewis, of Cedar Falls, Laura (Vernon) Dew, of Kansas City, Missouri, and Rebecca (Rick) Harmon, of Des Moines, three sons: David (Cindy) Meseck, of Rochester, Minnesota, Dr. Chuck (Patrice) Meseck, of Thiensville, Wisconsin, and Philip (Kathy) Meseck, of Belvidere, Illinois; eighteen grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; and her brother, Gerald Widman, of Storm Lake.
Marjorie was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence, in 2007; a grandson, Denver Meseck; three brothers; a sister; and her parents.
The family extends special thanks to Senior Suites of the Urbandale Health Care Initiatives (Central Iowa Hospice), the Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, and the Urbandale Health Care Center.
Memorials may be sent in honor of Marjorie to Health Care Initiatives (Central Iowa Hospice), 401 Railroad Place, West Des Moines, IA 50265 or Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, Urbandale, IA.
A memorial service for Marjorie will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 21, 2011, at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Urbandale with visitation at the church after 10 a.m.
