Allan "Al" R. Tripp, age 59, of Spencer and formerly of Sioux Rapids, died on Friday, July 9, 2004, at his home in Spencer.

Allan Roger Tripp was born on May 26, 1945, at Fort Dodge to Alvie Tripp and Irene Pierce. He spent his childhood in his parents' home in Webb. He attended grade school through 4th grade in Emmetsburg. He then attended and graduated from the Webb School. He continued his education to earn an ASE Certified Mechanic's Degree.

On May 16, 1969, Al married Sandra Kay Eaton at Spencer. This union was blessed with five children: Roger, Larry, Dianna, Holly and Alisha.

Al was confirmed in 1960 in Webb and was a member of the Sioux Rapids Baptist Church.

Entering the Army on January 31, 1966, Al served in Germany during the Vietnam War achieving the rank of E-4. He received several awards before his discharge on October 31, 1968.

Al was the owner/operator of Al's Auto Repair in Sioux Rapids where he was a mechanic.

He enjoyed racing, hunting, playing pool, following NASCAR, and repairing cars. He loved his family and especially treasured the time he spent with his grandchildren.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Sandra Kay Tripp, of Spencer; his mother, Irene Pierce, of Emmetsburg; his son, Roger Lee Tripp, and his wife, Penny, of Marathon; his daughters: Dianna Potts, Holly Morfitt and her husband Bob, and Alisha Tripp, all of Spencer; his grandsons, Dalton and Devin Tripp, Daniel and Darton Potts, and Robert Morfitt; his granddaughters, Demi and Darma Tripp, Cassidy Tripp (Morfitt) and Kayla Morfitt; his brothers, Albert Tripp, of Clarion, Arnold Tripp, and his wife, Jean, of Albert Lea, Minnesota, and Dale Tripp and Bert McEwin, of Everly; his sisters, Ilene Birchard, and her husband, Darrell, of Dayton, Ohio, and Arlene Webster, of Bode; as well as other extended family members and many friends.

Preceding Al in death were his father, Alvie Tripp; his son, Larry Allan Tripp; his brother, Alvin Tripp; his niece, Jennifer Webster; and his step-father, Leonard Pierce.

Funeral services for "Al" Tripp were held on Tuesday, July 13, 2004, at 2:00 p.m. at the Baptist Church in Sioux Rapids with the Reverend James Marshall officiating. Burial followed in Lone Tree Cemetery at Sioux Rapids under the direction of the Sliefert-Asmus Funeral Home in Sioux Rapids.
