Newell, IowaHelen Goetschius, age 86, of Live Oak, Texas, and formerly of Newell, Iowa, died March 28, 2011, in Live Oak.
Helen Louise Williams was born February 25, 1925, in Watertown, South Dakota, the daughter of George W. and Helen A. (Dahlstrom) Williams.
Growing up, she attended school through the eighth grade.
On December 28, 1944, Helen was united in marriage to Glenn (Bill) Goetschius. They were blessed with two children, Dawn and Allan.
Helen enjoyed being a homemaker, farm wife, and mother. She also worked at the Newell Dairy Mart and then, as a clerk at a Newell grocery store for many years. Later, she worked as a sales clerk at a drug store in Texas, retiring at age 72. Helen loved and treasured her family and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children: Dawn (Stan) Nordel, of Prescott Valley, Arizona, and Allan (Diane) Goetschius, of San Antonio, Texas; seven grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild in the hatch, due very soon; a sister, Georgia Sears, of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; a brother, Harlan Williams, of Watertown, South Dakota; and many nieces and nephews; as well as extended family and friends.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents, George and Helen; her husband, Glenn (Bill); her brothers: Howard, Harry, John, Richard, and Roy Williams; and a sister, Vyonne Dunn.
Visitation: 1:30 p.m. April 02, 2011, at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Newell, Iowa.
