Gustaf Olson
July 20, 1845 - [August 30, 1922]*

Funeral services were held last Thursday [August 31, 1922] at the Trinity Lutheran church over the remains of Gustaf Olson, an old resident of Alta. He was born July 20, 1845, in the Province of Varmland, Sweden, and came to America in the spring of 1880, settling in the township of Elk, Buena Vista county, immediately after his arrival. He was married to Anna Maria Kruse on May 8, 1881, and to this union five children were born, three boys and two girls.

One girl preceded her father on September 7, 1897, and one son, Albin, passed away May, 1922. The surviving members of the family are the widow, a daughter, Mrs. Anton Swanson, of Aurelia, and two sons, Charles Olson, of Alta and Arthur Olson, of Greenville, Iowa; also a brother, Olaf Olson, of Alta.

Mr. Olson was a member of the Elk Immanuel Lutheran church for many years, and when he moved to Alta, he affiliated with the Trinity Lutheran, of which he was a member for 14 years. Interment was made in the Scandinavian Cemetery Advertiser, 9-7-1922).
