Leroy Hartshorn
October 4, 1884 – July 1, 1952

LeRoy Hartshorne, 67, died last Tuesday at his home near Marathon as the result of a heart attack. The funeral was Saturday at the Methodist Church, with burial in the Marathon cemetery. Survivors his wife, Ruth; a son, Elbert; a daughter, Mrs. James Blacker of Portland, Ore.; four grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Charlotte Daniel of Cameron, Mo. (abstract, Laurens Sun, 7/10/1952)

Leroy Frederick, son of Anna and Frederick G Hartshorn, was born near Marathon, Iowa, on October 4, 1884, and passed away on July 1, 1952, at the age of 67 years, 9 months and 4 days.

He had spent his entire life in this community except for 12 years when he lived near Cameron, Missouri.

On Nov 25, 1915, he was married to Helen Schwarz, who preceded him in death on March 24, 1933. There were two children, Elbert Leroy and Leona Helena.

On Sept. 2, 1940, he married Mrs. Ruth Lewis. They made their home northwest of Marathon.

In his youth, he became a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

He leaves to mourn his passing his wife; his son, Elbert, and daughter, Mrs. James R Blacker, both of Portland, Oregon; one sister, Mrs. Charlotte Daniel; a nephew, Gomer Daniel; a niece, Mrs. Emerson McCord, all of Cameron, Missouri; a step-son, Elden Ray Lewis, of Phoenix, Arizona; four grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.

Out-of-town relative here to attend the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Elbert Hartshorn and David and Susan, and Mr. ad Mrs. James Blacker of Portland, Oregon; Elden Ray Lewis of Phoenix, Arizona; Mr. and Mrs. Gomer Daniel, Mrs. Lott Danie, Mrs. Emerson McCord and Iva Entrikon, of Cameron, Missouri, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Entrikon of Kansas City, Missouri, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Hartshorn and granddaughter, Diane Kettle, of Clive, Mrs. Charles Cope and son, Charles, of Mallard and Mrs. Bernard Johnson of Webb.

They were guests while here in the T V Welch, Jennie Hartshorn and Mrs. Ruth Hartshorn homes.
