Timothy Lang Cahill, 56, of Gulf Breeze, Florida, passed away suddenly on December 30, 2010, from complications resulting from cancer therapy.
Born on July 21, 1954, Timothy Lang Cahill, son of Richard and Leta Cahill, was raised in Humboldt, Iowa, and graduated from the University of Iowa in 1976. Upon graduation, he was employed by Hy-Vee and worked in a variety of their stores throughout Iowa for eight years.
In 1984, he was united in marriage with Donna Fitzpatrick in Storm Lake, Iowa.
In 1990, Tim earned his PGA Golf Professional Card. His career spanned numerous positions as head PGA golf professional and general manager of a variety of country clubs throughout the Gulf Coast. For the last 12 years, he served as general manager at Glenlakes Golf Club in Foley, Alabama. Most highly respected and regarded within the Dixie Southern PGA community, Tim was renowned for his leadership, mentoring, and development of young PGA professionals.
Notwithstanding his heavy professional commitments, Tim was deeply involved with St. Sylvester’s Catholic parish in Navarre, Florida, serving as an usher, lector, and a third degree Knight of Columbus. He was also actively involved with all three of his children’s activities at Pensacola Catholic High School.
Tim is survived by his wife, Donna Fitzpatrick Cahill, and their three sons: Timothy, Thomas, and Colin; his parents, Richard and Leta Cahill, of Humboldt, Iowa; his brother, Warren Cahill, his wife Cara, and their sons, Ethan, Seth, and Joseph, of Angola, Indiana; and his sister, Mary Sanderson, and her husband, Jack, of St. Joseph, Michigan. In addition, he is survived by his aunts and uncles: Mrs. Coletta Ammann, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Baltes, and Mr. and Mrs. John Baltes, all of Hampton, Iowa, as well as by Mr. and Mrs. Henry Cahill, of Marshalltown, Iowa. Tim is also survived by Donna’s brothers and sisters: Charles and Mary Beth Mahon, of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, Thomas and Susan Fitzpatrick, of Storm Lake, Iowa, Douglas and Colleen Joens, of Andover, Minnesota, William and Patricia Fitzpatrick, of Storm Lake, Iowa, and Donald and Sherri Fitzpatrick, of Ankeny, Iowa; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family has established a memorial fund in honor of Timothy L. Cahill dedicated to Catholic education.
Visitation: 3:30-8:00 p.m. January 06, 2011, at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake, Iowa
Mass of Christian Burial: 10:00 a.m. January 07, 2011, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Storm Lake, Iowa
Vigil Service: 7:00 p.m. with a Knights of Columbus Rosary to follow January 06, 2011, at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake, Iowa
