Vivian Koth, age 73, of Des Moines, died Tuesday, May 27, 2003, at her apartment in the LiGutti Tower in Des Moines.

Vivian Elisabeth Koth was born October 30, 1929, in Elk Township, Buena Vista County, the daughter of Carl and Anna (Keilers) Koth.

She graduated from Alta High School in 1947 and attended Samuels School of Beauty Culture in Sioux City to become a licensed Cosmetologist, graduating in 1948. She worked in shops in Webster City and Fort Dodge before locating in Des Moines where she was a long-time employee of Hansen's Hair Design until she retired.

Vivian enjoyed traveling on her vacations and working with her house plants. She was especially fond of her niece, Cindy, and husband, Bob Lehl, and their children, Jason, Jamie and Brandon.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Anna Koth; her nephew, Scott McConkey; her niece, Florence (Mrs. Don) Koth; and a half-brother, Lorenz Koth.

She is survived by her sister, Lois, and her husband, Darwin McConkey, of Alta; a brother, Quintus J.H. Koth, and his wife, Kay, of Hayward, California; her half-brother's wife, Hilda Koth, of Aurelia; her nieces: Cindy Lehl, and her husband, Bob, of Alta, Amy Carroll, and her husband, Barry, of Hayward, California, Nancy Koth of Ripon, California, Karen Van Hooser, and her husband, Jerold, of Rochester, Minnesota; her nephews: Don Koth, of Livermore, California, Mark Koth and his wife, Deanna, of Pleasanton, California, Merlin Koth, of Warner Robbins, Georgia, Steven Koth, and his wife, Lisa, of Pleasanton, California, and extended family and friends.

Graveside services were held Tuesday, June 3, 2003, at the Buena Vista Memorial Park Cemetery, Storm Lake, with Pastor Steven Schulz officiating.
