Coleen Keenan, age 74, of Storm Lake, Iowa, died Friday, November 5, 2010, at the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake.
Coleen LaVonne Gard was born April 14, 1936, in Carroll, Iowa, the daughter of Edmund and Vivian (Landgraf) Gard. Growing up, Coleen attended Sacred Heart Catholic School in Early, Iowa, where she graduated in 1954. Following graduation, she continued her education in Omaha, Nebraska, at Commercial Extension.
On June 25, 1955, Coleen was united in marriage to Ronald Joseph Keenan at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Early. Together, they were blessed with five children: Mike, Tim, Michelle, Nancy and John.
Coleen was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She was an active member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Storm Lake. She enjoyed crocheting, reading and going to garage sales. Coleen loved her family and treasured spending time with them.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Ron Keenan, of Storm Lake, Iowa; her children: Mike (Edna) Keenan, of Storm Lake, Iowa, Tim (Gloria) Keenan of Des Moines, Iowa, Michelle (Rob) Smith, of Storm Lake, Iowa, Nancy Christensen, of Issaquah, Washington, and John (Karen) Keenan, of Storm Lake, Iowa; her grandchildren: Sherry (Blake) Titterington, Kelly, Holly, Shallee, Joel (Kellie), Alyssa, Vivian, Cole and Owen Keenan, Malcolm and Jake Smith, and Keenan Porter; her great grandchild, Trenton John; her brother, Don Gard, of Glendale, Arizona; her sisters: Connie Hoye, of Storm Lake, Iowa, Karen Zettl, of Littleton, Colorado, and Marlene Aarhus of Bellevue, Nebraska; as well as extended family and many friends.
Coleen was preceded in death by her parents, Ed and Vivian Gard; her brother, Ed Gard; her parents-in-law, Chris and Ethel Keenan; and her sisters-in-law, Joyce Gard and Dorothy Smith Berg.
Visitation: 1-5:00 p.m. on November 07, 2010, at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home with a 1:30 p.m. Rosary. Visitation will then resume at St. Mary's Catholic Church at 7:30 p.m., November 07, 2010
Vigil Service: 7:30 p.m., November 07, 2010, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Storm Lake, Iowa
Mass of Christian Burial: 10:30 a.m. on Monday, November 08, 2010, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Storm Lake, Iowa
