April 13, 1928 - September 14, 2010Robert Evans, age 82, of Storm Lake, Iowa, died Tuesday, September 14, 2010, at Buena Vista Manor Care Center in Storm Lake.
Robert Dean Evans, the son of James Dean and Gladys (Goodall) Evans, was born in Fort Dodge, Iowa, on April 13, 1928. Bob was baptized at the Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Fort Dodge on April 17, 1928. He lived his youth and received his education in Sioux City, Iowa. Bob served his country faithfully in the United States Navy following World War II from April 16, 1946, to February 10, 1948.
On February 25, 1966, Bob was united in marriage to Darlene Price in Sioux City, Iowa. Following their marriage they lived in Sioux City for one year and then moved to Denver, Colorado, where they resided for the next 20 years. Since 1984, Bob and Darlene have made their home in Storm Lake.
An life-long accomplished carpenter, Bob taught many people his expert craftsmanship. He enjoyed building and doing wood-working projects and will be remembered as a loyal friend to many people.
Bob was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Storm Lake and a lifetime member of the Broomfield, Colorado, VFW Post # 9565.
Those who will always love and cherish Bob’s memory include: his wife, Darlene, of Storm Lake, Iowa; his children, Mike and Diane Evans, of McCook Lake, SD, and Jerri Dillavou and Susie Church, both of Sioux City, IA; 12 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandson; one brother, Oral Evans, of Angola, Indiana; his sister, Genelle Max, of Denver, CO; other extended family and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two daughters: Margie and Sandi; and one brother, Glen.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, September 18, 2010, at 1:00 p.m. at the Sliefert Funeral Home in Storm Lake. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. The Sliefert Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.
