Eldon Angeroth
March 21, 1920 - September 05, 2010

Storm Lake, Iowa

Eldon L. Angeroth, age 90, of Storm Lake, Iowa, died Sunday, September 5, 2010, at the Methodist Manor Retirement Community in Storm Lake.

Eldon Leroy was born on March 21, 1920, in Council Bluffs, Iowa, to George M. and Rose (Oliver) Angeroth. He attended country school in Council Bluffs.

Before entering the service, Eldon worked for Standard Oil Pipe Line. On April 20, 1942, he entered the Army Air Force, completing his basic training at Sheppard Field in Wichita Falls, Texas. Because the Army needed ever more soldiers as World War II escalated, Eldon experienced a shortened training period. The call up was in alphabetical order, so he was shipped out early to Kelly Field and assigned to the B17 Training Command and the 392nd Bomb Group. After proudly serving his country, Eldon was honorably discharged on December 13, 1945.

On May 3, 1945, Eldon was united in marriage to Rose Mae Lee (while still serving in the military) in Council Bluffs. They lived in Fort Worth, Texas, from May to December, working with the B24. This union was blessed with three children: Sharon, Sandy, and Eldon, Jr.

Upon returning from Texas, Eldon began farming in the Crescent, Iowa, area. They, however, did not stay there long. Flooded out, the family moved north of Sac City, Iowa, at the end of 1947.

Eldon enjoyed camping and traveling. In 1974, Eldon and Rose traveled to Texas for the winter, but in 1975, the changed their destination to Arizona. They continued traveling during the winter for 32 years. They traveled to every state in the union including Alaska and Hawaii, to all the Canadian provinces, to Mexico, and twice to Europe.

Farming was the true calling in Eldon's life. He loved the land and the lifestyle it provided for his family. Eldon farmed until his "retirement". Nevertheless, he remained active in farming with his son until the age of 86.

Those left to cherish Eldon's memory are his wife of 65 years, Rose Mae of Storm Lake; his children: Sharon (Charles) Eddy of Newell, Iowa; Sandy (Norm) Knoke of Storm Lake; Eldon Jr. (Lynn) Angeroth of Early, Iowa; grandchildren: Rob (Julie) Seil of Cincinnati, Ohio; Mark (Mary Luz) Seil of San Francisco, California; Lori (Rodney) Schakel of Monroe, Iowa; Robin (Paul) Knutson of Storm Lake; Cory (Jacque) Angeroth of Salt Lake City, Utah; Kari (Gilbert) Montano and Melissa Angeroth, all of Chandler, Arizona; great grandchildren: Courtney Seil, Caitlyn Seil, Kacie, Kayla and Kolby Schakel, Logan and Jordyn Borchardt, Carson and Catherine Angeroth, Matthew and Lexi Montano, and Madison Angeroth; one brother, Howard Angeroth of Florida; extended family and many friends.

Eldon was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: Cleone Angeroth and Theodore Angeroth (in infancy); sister, Olive Angeroth; son-in-law, Steve Seil; and sister-in-law, Doris Angeroth.
