Obituary from the Storm Lake Pilot, November 5, 1925, page 5

Mrs. Joe NATTRESS, another of Storm Lake's beloved women, passed away at her home on Grand Avenue Friday morning, October 30, at about 3 o'clock. She had been failing in health since last June when she was taken ill with a nervous breakdown. It was thought for some time that she would recover, and hopes were given by attending physicians until she was taken seriously ill again a couple of weeks ago. Her death came as a great shock to relatives and friends.

Mrs. NATTRESS was an active worker and member of the United Methodist Church, sparing no time and effort in working for the various organizations of the church. She became a member of the choir of the church when 15 years of age, and sang in the organization until about 2 years ago. She was also a member of the Foreign and Home Missionary Societies, the Pastor's Aid, Ladies Aid, and Assistant Superintendent of the senior intermediate department of the Sunday school. Mrs. NATTRESS was also popular in various other social clubs of the city, being a member of the WCTU, Service Star Legion, and Sorosis Club.

Cora Rose BETHARDS was born in Illinois December 10, 1869. When about 6 years of age she came to Storm Lake with her parents and other members of the family. She grew to young womanhood here, and in the year of 1900, August 22, she was united in marriage to Mr. NATTRESS, and they have since resided in this city. She leaves to mourn, besides her husband, HIS four children, Robert Earl NATTRESS of Mobile, AL; Mrs. A. B. COX of Alta; Mrs. Nina COLBATH of San Francisco, CA; and Charles W. NATTRESS of Oneida, SD; one sister, Mrs. D. G. ROCKWELL of Harding, MT; and 2 brothers, Curtis BETHARDS and Ellis BETHARDS of this city, besides a host of loving neighbors and friends. Funeral services were held at the home Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock, and at the Methodist Church at 2:30. Both services were in charge of Rev. O. M. BOND. The pallbearers were U. G. BURTON, E. W. OATES, James COULSON, Wm. WHEAT, J. W. GEISINGER, and H. C. BERGER.

The body was taken Tuesday morning to MASON CITY, the former home of Mr. NATTRESS, and the interment was made in the NATTRESS home of Mr. NATTRESS. Rev. O. M. BOND accompanied the body. Among those in attendance at the services from out of town were Charles NATTRESS of Oneida, SD, Walter BENNISON of Des Moines, and J. H. BENNISON of Illinois, nephews of Mr. NATTRESS.
