Kathryn Ann (Duchow) Cresap, 56, passed away Saturday, January 19, 2002, at her home in Larrabee following a 1 1/2 year illness.
Kathryn was born October 15, 1945, in Tonasket, Washington, to Carl and Mae (Kloth) Duchow. She was baptized in the Immanuel Lutheran Church at Havillah, Washington.
Kathryn attended a one-room schoolhouse in Havillah for the first six grades. Then she moved on to the Tonasket School system and graduated from Tonasket High School in 1963 as Class Salutatorian. She then attended Concordia College in Portland, Oregon, for two years where she earned her AA degree in Teacher Training. She then went on to Concordia College in Seward, Nebraska, where on June 3, 1967, she graduated with a BS in Education, majoring in Sociology with a minor in Primary Education.
She also received a Lutheran Teachers Diploma, and on July 6, 1967, she received an Iowa Teaching certificate. She then taught at Zion Lutheran School in Storm Lake for four years.
She was married to Earl Cornal Cresap on June 8, 1969, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Havillah, Washington. One daughter Michelle Kathryn was born April 6, 1972.
Kathryn enjoyed life in the rural setting in Iowa. She did antiquing with her husband, and enjoyed furniture refinishing and embroidering. She served on the Larrabee Town Council and taught Sunday School at Trinity Lutheran Church.
She was preceded in death by her father in 1999.
She is survived by her husband, Earl, and one daughter Michelle Brownlow and her husband Steve of Atlanta, Georgia; her mother Mae Duchow of Tonasket, WA.; three brothers: Leroy Duchow of Bellevue, WA.; Martin Duchow of Milwaukee, WI.; Dale Duchow of Tonasket, WA.; two sisters: Carolyn Provost of Fall City, WA.; Marcella King of Tonasket, WA.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 22, 2002, at 10:30 a.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Cherokee. Pastor Richard Arndt will officiate. Burial will be in the Nemaha Cemetery at Nemaha. There will be family prayer service at 10:15 a.m. at the church on Tuesday. Boothby Funeral Home, Cherokee, is in charge of arrangements.
The family requests that memorials be made to the Trinity Lutheran Church.
