Maria de Jesus Zaragoza, age 79, of Storm Lake, died Friday, December 7, 2001, at the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake following a brief illness.

Maria de Jesus Zaragoza was born June 17, 1922, in Guadalajara, Mexico, the daughter of Pedro and Maria Zaragoza. Her formal schooling was in Mexico.

She was a homemaker and mother. She is survived by seven daughters, Julia Guzman and Ramona Guzman, of California, Socorro Guzman and Mercedes Guzman, Guadalajara, Mexico, Maria F. Montano and her husband, Alejandro, Chicago, Isabel Nunez and her husband, José, Ensenada, Mexico, and Adelina Sanchez and her husband, Arturo, Storm Lake, a sister, Crecenia Zaragoza, Guadalajara, Mexico.

Also surviving are 34 grandchildren including, Isabel, Miguel Angel and Julia Janet Nunez, Maria Pilar & Adelina Martinez, Yesenia Mendez, Gilbert, Juan, and Jesus Palomarez, Isabel M. Sanchez, all of Storm Lake, Alejandro, Ana & Esteban Montano, Chicago, IL, and 43 great grandchildren.

Her parents, eleven sons, one daughter and nine brothers and sisters preceded her in death. A memorial fund has been established.

Funeral services were held Monday, December 10th, 2001, at 12:30 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home of Storm Lake with Mr. Kent Radford & Mr. Scott Richey of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints officiating.
