Fred Krueger, age 66, of Storm Lake, Iowa, died May 18, 2010, at the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake.

Fred Krueger, son of Raymond and Hilda (Popp) Krueger was born February 10, 1944, in St. Louis, Missouri. As an infant, he was baptized at Bethesda Lutheran Church in St. Louis.

Growing up, Fred attended grade school and later graduated from St. Paul’s High School in Concordia, Missouri, in 1962. Following graduation, Fred decided to continue his education at Concordia Teacher’s College in Seward, Nebraska, where he graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in 1966. Fred also earned his Master’s Degree from the University of South Dakota.

On August 6, 1966, Fred was united in marriage to Diane R. Dierenfield at St. John Lutheran Church in Storm Lake. Together they were blessed with four children: James, Michael, Joni and Daniel.

Throughout 37 years of churchwork, Fred served as a classroom teacher, school principal, Director of Christian Education, and Youth Counselor.

Fred was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Storm Lake where he was congregational chairman. He also belonged to the Lion’s Club, Lutheran Laymens League, and served as an EMT at Memorial Stadium in Lincoln, NE.

Family was very important to Fred. He enjoyed going on family vacations to the Black Hills and spending time with his grandchildren. Fred loved golfing, fishing, and coaching athletic teams such as soccer, football, basketball and softball. Fred took great pleasure in visiting the elderly and shut-ins.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Diane R. Krueger of Storm Lake, Iowa; children: Reverend James (Michele) Krueger of Saginaw, Michigan; Michael Krueger of Maryville, Illinois; Joni (Warren) Timm of Sparta, Wisconsin; Daniel (Gloria) Krueger of Wahoo, Nebraska; grandchildren: Molly, Tyler, Audrey, and Ian Timm of Sparta, Wisconsin; Corinne, Nathan and Katelyn Krueger of Saginaw, Michigan; sisters: Grace (Reverend Bernard) Ansorge of Huntsville, Alabama; Marilyn Krueger of Rochester, Minnesota; mother-in-law, LaVerne Dierenfield of Aurelia, Iowa; brothers-in-law: Eugene (Toni) Dierenfield of California, Missouri; Ron (Ellen) Dierenfield of Alta, Iowa; sisters-in-law: Sharon (Larry) Huntley of Arnolds Park, Iowa; Mary (Ethan) Lindsay of Spencer, Iowa; extended family and friends.

Fred was preceded in death by his parents, Reverend R.A. and Hilda Nee Krueger.

Visitation: 4-6:00 p.m. and 7-9:00 p.m. May 21, 2010, at Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake, Iowa
Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m. May 22, 2010, at St. John Lutheran Church in Storm Lake, Iowa
Interment: May 22, 2010, at Buena Vista Memorial Park Cemetery in Storm Lake, Iowa
