Doi Lo, 72, of Storm Lake, passed away Monday, April 2, 2001, at his Storm Lake home from complications of stomach cancer.

Doi Lo, the son of Haam Lov Van and Ouy Lo Van, was born July 18, 1919, in Vietnam. He was educated in Vietnam, served in the military and worked as a carpenter there.

He married Noth Quang in 1957 in Laos. The couple and their nine children immigrated to the United States in 1979 with the help of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Linn Grove. Mr. Lo realized a long time dream of becoming a United States citizen on Dec. 19, 2000.

His family includes his wife Noth Lo of Storm Lake; six daughters: Kheen and her husband Khamkeng Bourommavong of Storm Lake, Bien Nguyen of Iowa City, Pom and her husband Mark Hill of West Palm Beach, Fla., Vanessa and her husband Ryan Baccam, Katie Ghom Helmbrecht and her husband Robert, Alexis Nasirichampang and her husband Somphet, all of Storm Lake; three sons: Bui Lo of Lake Worth, Fla., Kham Lo and Boun Lo, Storm Lake; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Funeral services for Mr. Lo will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 7, 2001, at the Fratzke Funeral Home in Storm Lake with Rev. Barry Thongvanh of the Southeast Asian Christian Church officiating. Burial will be in the Storm Lake Cemetery.

The family will be present to greet friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Friday [Apr. 6, 2001] at the Fratzke Funeral Home.
