Dale D. Conklin - June 15, 1950 - Jan. 5, 2008

Dale Conklin, age 57, of Storm Lake, Iowa, died on January 5, 2008, at the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake.

Dale Duane Conklin was born on June 15, 1950, to William “Warren” and Mary Alice (Meador) Conklin in Runnells, Iowa. He attended school in Newton and graduated from Newton High School in 1968.

On June 12, 1987, Dale was united in marriage to Kimberly Kay Hegwood.

Dale was employed for over 20 years in management and as project manager at the Storm Lake Water & Waste Water Treatment plant. Over the years, he enjoyed playing golf, shooting pool, watching NASCAR and spending time on the computer. Dale found great joy and pride in watching his family grow. He especially cherished the time he spent with his grandchildren. Dale was a member of the Community of Christ Church in Newton, Iowa.

Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Kim, of Storm Lake; children: Amy Blackwell and her husband, Steven, of Anamosa, Iowa; Doug Sutton of Truesdale, Iowa; Cory Sutton and his wife, Shannon, of Alta, Iowa; Samantha Doepp and her husband, Kris, of Newton, Iowa; and Derek Conklin of Storm Lake; six grandchildren: Alexandra Doepp, Jordyn Doepp, Zackery Sutton, Hailey Sutton, Ashlie Blackwell and Kole Blackwell; one brother, Bill Conklin and his wife, Stephanie, of Newton, Iowa; one sister, Mary Anne Boren and her husband, Barry, of Independence, Missouri; several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Preceding Dale in death were his parents, Warren and Mary Alice Conklin and his mother-in-law, Kathy Lambert.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 9, 2008, at the Wallace Funeral Home in Newton, Iowa. Burial will be in the Memorial Gardens in Newton. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home of Storm Lake, and the Wallace Funeral Home of Newton are in charge of the arrangements.

Friends may call from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, January 7, 2008, at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake where the family will be present to greet friends.
