Ruby J. Strandberg - Dec. 22, 1934 - Mar. 5, 2008

Ruby Jeanette Strandberg, age 73, of Elk Horn, Nebraska, and formally of Storm Lake, Iowa, died Wednesday, March 5, 2008, at Life Care Center in Elk Horn, Nebraska.

On December 22, 1934, Ruby Janet Sievert was born in Alta, Iowa, to Fred and Vivian (Roberts) Sievert. As a youth she was baptized into the Christian Faith. She attended grade school in Alta through the eighth grade.

Ruby was later married to Glen Strandberg from which union they raised six children: Paul, Richard, Jerry, Todd, Jody and Tammy.

Over the years, Ruby loved reading and playing cards with her sisters. She was a great cook and enjoyed preparing food in her kitchen as well as Lakeshore Restaurant in Storm Lake, Iowa. Ruby took pride in cooking and baking; she was known as the “Pie Lady”. Most of all, she cherished the time she spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Ruby was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Glen; brothers: Chuck Sievert and Al Sievert; and two grandsons: Nathan Webster and B.J. Strandberg.

Left to cherish her memory are her children: Paul (Pat) Darnell of Fenton, Iowa, Richard (Sandy) Strandberg of Storm Lake, Iowa, Jerry (Anna) Strandberg of Omaha, Nebraska, Todd Strandberg of Omaha, Nebraska, Jody (Heather) Strandberg of Peterson, Iowa, and Tammy Reimers of Yankton, South Dakota; grandchildren: Kenny Darnell, Misty Nelson, Angel Riecks, Hope Bell, James Totten, Adam Strandberg, Brad Strandberg, Ben Strandberg, Abby and Colby Strandberg, and Jordan Reimers; and nine great-grandchildren; brothers: Wayne Sievert of Storm Lake, Iowa, and Bill (Connie) Sievert of Pocahontas, Iowa; sisters: Betty Ammonds of Cherokee, Iowa, Mel Schnetter of Alta, Iowa, and Marion Larimer of Sioux City, Iowa; sisters-in-law: Lois Sievert of Alta, Iowa, and Ione Sievert of Storm Lake, Iowa; extended family and many friends.

Funeral services for Mrs. Strandberg will be held on Monday, March 10, 2008, at 10:00 a.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake. Burial will be in Buena Vista Memorial Park Cemetery in Storm Lake. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.

Friends may call on Sunday, March 9, 2008, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake where the family will be present.
