Cecil Morgan, age 86, of Storm Lake, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, August 23, 2007, at Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake surrounded by his devoted wife of 61 years, Marion, and his family.

Cecil Paul Morgan was born April 6, 1921, in Lamar, Colorado, to Jesse and Myrtle (Ruby) Morgan. Cecil’s family moved to Guthrie, Oklahoma, and later to Palo Alto County, Iowa, where Cecil attended Palo Alto Country Schools.

Cecil worked as a farmhand until departing for military service. He served in the United States Army from 1942 to 1944. Following his discharge, Cecil returned home and met the love of his life – Marion. They were married in 1946. Together they farmed in Palo Alto, Clay, and Buena Vista counties in Iowa, settling on a farm southwest of Rembrandt, Iowa, in 1963 where they farmed until their retirement in 1987. Cecil and Marion then moved into Storm Lake.

Cecil and Marion were blessed with six children: James, Charles, Kenneth, Judy, Rodney and Kathy.

Cecil most enjoyed taking many countryside drives, and working on his farm machinery. He especially treasured the time he spent with his six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Cecil was a member of the American Legion as well as Farm Bureau.

Those who will cherish his memory are his wife, Marion; his children: Chuck of Mondovi, Wisconsin; Ken and Rita of Cherokee, Iowa; Judy Freeman of Madrid, Iowa; Rod and Laura of Rembrandt; and Kathy of Cody, Wyoming; his grandchildren: Brad and Shawna of Indianola, Iowa; Josh of Eau Claire, Wisconsin; Jerry and Jenifer of Egan, Minnesota; Mary and Amy, both of Rembrandt; his great-grandchildren, Hunter and Brady Freeman of Indianola, Iowa; his sister, Violet Chism of Albia, Iowa; his special aunt, Grace Oelsen of Fowler, Colorado; two brothers-in-law, eight sisters-in-law, numerous nieces, nephews and many friends.

Cecil was preceded in death by his parents; his son, James; his granddaughter, Kristi Freeman; his brother, Hugh; and his sister, Blanche Wood.

Memorials may be directed to Buena Vista Regional Medical Center Hospice Program and/or Faith, Hope, and Charity, both in Storm Lake.
